A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Scottsdale
Here’s the thing about Catch—when you step inside, you forget where you are. The bustle of Scottsdale Fashion Square falls away, and suddenly it’s all candlelight, moody walls, velvet banquettes, and a bar that hums with its own kind of energy. It doesn’t feel like dining at the mall—it feels like stepping into another world.

A Familiar Rhythm
I’ve been a Catch regular since my LA days, so walking into this new Scottsdale opening felt like slipping back into a familiar rhythm. The A5 Wagyu, seared tableside on a hot stone, sends its aroma into the room before the first bite ever touches your lips. The crispy rice—golden, sharp with spicy tuna—is impossible not to devour too quickly. Bowls of blistered shishitos are smoky and salty, the kind of simple bite that grounds a table. And the crispy Brussels sprouts, bright with yuzu-calamansi vinaigrette and dusted with dry miso, set a new standard for what a sprout can be.
Culinary Surprises Await
There are surprises, too. The Madai crudo—Japanese red snapper fanned out like petals, jeweled with pickled peach and pomegranate—arrives like a painting on a plate, delicate and unexpected. Each bite is a delightful exploration of flavors that dance on the palate.
The Clarified Piña Colada is the cocktail worth lingering over—Santa Teresa rum, Cocchi Americano, pineapple, coconut milk, whey. Silky and layered, it leans tropical without ever tipping into sweetness. It’s the kind of drink that invites you to sit back and savor every sip.
The Grand Finale: Dessert
And dessert isn’t just dessert here—it’s a finale. The legendary “Hit Me” chocolate cake cracks open to reveal roasted white chocolate ice cream, brownie, and devil’s food cake. Playful, indulgent, unforgettable (and don’t forget to add a glass of bubbles, for the ultimate pairing). It’s the perfect way to end a meal that feels like a celebration.
A Splurge Worth Taking
But let’s be honest: Catch is a splurge. It’s on the pricier end of Scottsdale dining, and while I’d still put a couple of my favorite local sushi spots above it in terms of pure raw fish artistry, Catch wins big when it comes to the vibe, the energy, and the drama of its dishes. Their seafood is undeniably fresh, their Wagyu is outstanding, and the bar scene is absolutely where you want to perch if you’re in the mood to see and be seen.
The Experience Awaits
So, if you’re looking for a dining experience that transcends the ordinary, Catch Scottsdale is calling your name. The atmosphere is electric, the food is a feast for the senses, and every moment feels special. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone or simply indulging in a night out, this place promises to deliver.
