Always Smelling, Always Pairing
Always Smelling, Always Pairing

There’s a moment before the first sip when the room settles in.

The lighting softens. The bar hums. The glassware clinks just enough to remind you you’re somewhere you chose to be. And before the drink even hits the table, there’s already something else setting the tone, what you’re wearing.

Fragrance is part of the experience.

Not an afterthought. Not a trend. It’s the invisible detail that finishes the scene.

That’s where Spray That, Sip This begins.

I’ll be your Scent Somm, but let me say this up front: I’m not a fragrance pro. I’m firmly Team Consumer. I won’t be rating atomizers or dissecting performance like a lab report. What I will do is translate scent into something we already know how to savor, the way notes and mood line up with a cocktail, a spirit, or a glass of wine, and the kind of place you’d want to wear it.

Because a fragrance doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It shows up with intention. To dinner. To date night. To a quiet drink alone. To wandering in a different city. To a celebration worth dressing up for. And the way it smells can shift depending on where you are and what’s in your glass.

Each week, I’ll take one fragrance from my personal collection and pair it with:

  • the kind of bar or restaurant it belongs in

  • the cocktail, wine, or spirit I’d order

  • the mood it creates

Not hype. Not a technical breakdown.Just context.

And always, a reminder: scent is wildly personal. What I love and wear might not be for everyone. You really do want to try it on your own skin (and yes, I’m guilty of blind buying anyway).

One more thing you’ll notice quickly: most of what I own leans gourmand, warm, cozy, creamy, a little decadent. That’s my comfort zone. But I’m always wanting to try beyond it, with one hard boundary: I can’t do super florals. Softer gourmands that aren’t as edible absolutely have a place at my table though, so if there’s something you think I should add, tell me. I love a good recommendation.

Spray That, Sip This is about answering one simple question:What kind of night is this fragrance made for?

You’ll find pairings that lean cozy, elegant, playful, nostalgic, and indulgent. You’ll see which scents feel polished and which are meant to be worn casually. And you’ll always know who a fragrance is for, and who might want to skip it.

Think of this as fragrance styled the same way you’d style an outfit or plan a menu. Thoughtfully. Intentionally. With a sense of place.

If you love good food, well-made drinks, and fragrance that feels lived-in rather than loud, you’re in the right place.

Welcome to Spray That, Sip This, where what you wear and what you order belong at the same table.
