Some pairings make sense on paper. This one makes sense in your bones.

JusBox is built around whimsy and music, like fragrance as a playlist, and Carioca Heart wears exactly like an opening track: bright citrus and tropical fruit, a little rum-kissed sparkle, then a creamy warmth that hangs around long after the first impression.

So of course we’re pairing it with a bottle that comes with its own music history.

Caduceus Cellars’ Hilltop PetNat is Arizona fizz with personality, tied to the world built by Maynard James Keenan of Tool. It’s playful but intentional, the kind of pour that turns “just one glass” into a whole mood.

Why it pairs

This is all about lift, heat, and rhythm.

The PetNat brings that bright, celebratory pop and mirrors the fragrance’s tropical-citrus energy. Then the rum note bridges into “night has officially started,” while the creamy drydown makes everything feel softer, closer, and a little flirtier. Citrus season in Arizona, warm air at the wrong time of year, in the best way.

Make it a moment

Chill the PetNat well and open it slow. PetNat likes to be dramatic. Spray first, pour second, music on, and let the evening do what it does.

Snack ideas if you want to lean into the vibe:

  • shrimp tacos with lime

  • salty chips with mango salsa

  • prosciutto + melon

  • Seared Ahi Tuna salad

Desert Night playlist

If you want your desert night to feel like velvet, go bossa first, then let it melt into jazz.

Bossa

  • Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars)

  • Wave

  • Chega de Saudade

  • Agua de Beber

Jazz

  • Blue in Green

  • In a Sentimental Mood

  • My Funny Valentine

  • Round Midnight

And if you want a night with a little more flavor and some major mood, toss on Ænima. This one has been one of my favorite “rock” albums since it came out in ’96, the kind of listen that turns a simple pour into an atmosphere.

The winery part that makes this even better

Caduceus isn’t just a label, it’s a whole destination mindset. If you want to go deeper, they offer the Velvet Slippers Ventura Room experience: an exclusive, in-depth look at the winery that includes a vineyard tour, facility tour, and a guided tasting with Arizona tapas paired alongside produce from their estate gardens, all wrapped into a 90-minute experience.

Where to sip in person

  • Visit the tasting room in Jerome: Their tasting room is tucked into town, with flights plus an extensive bottle shop where you can pick up both Caduceus and Merkin bottles.

  • Grab a bite at Merkin Vineyards Hilltop Winery & Trattoria: Come for the food, stay for the patio. It’s known for views over the vines and out toward the red rocks to the north.

  • Make it a “sip, stroll, stay” with The Tavern Hotel: A boutique home base right in Old Town Cottonwood, convenient for wandering, tasting, and turning this pairing into a full weekend.
